Turning Tides
This week I have experienced an usual level of appreciation. Everywhere I turn, friends and fans and thanking me, encouraging me, and making me feel my contributions are important. The church choir complimented my Easter processional vision. Many coworkers expressed sentimental farewells on my last day at Abbott. I’ve had more positive feedback at Potbelly than normal, including meeting my “biggest fan” (so a tween boy told me today, to which I replied, “That’s good. I need one of those.”) I even had one of those moments where another car almost snuck in to steal the parking spot I’d identified and driven around to get to, and just as I was about to shamefully say nasty things aloud to the interior of my car, she noticed me, waved, backed out of the spot, and moved on.
!?!?! Somebody sell me a lottery ticket. Humanity has hope yet.
Folks, I no longer work for Corporate America. In honor of turning tides, I am moving my blog from WordPress.com and hosting it on my Official Website.

Peace, blessings, and Easter greetings to you all.

More Milestones
Life is about to get much less hectic…or more hectic, depending on the stars, fate, or just my affinity to cram as much stuff into my life as I can possibly put my hands on. On Thursday, I turn in my badge and begin my 12-month (or permanent, whichever lasts longer) leave of absence from my long-term corporate employer. I can focus on performance and music education efforts, and hopefully succeed at both beyond my wildest expectations.
Which will be great, because I expect a heck of a lot.
Bon voyage!

Business Progress
I have narrowed down commercial properties to two potential locations for my music school. Now we’re just in negotiations, and I hope to have a lease signed by the end of the month. Which is good, because it’s just in time for the music instruction summer business slump!
For the leery among my potential investors (all two of you), I have some ideas around low-commitment summer activities. Low-commitment means customers can work around their soccer practice / swim meet / Girl Scout camp / family vacation days.
But for now, I’m ramping up for the renovation phase… and then the hiring phase… and then the Grand Opening phase… and, of course, the ever-popular losing-money-for-awhile-until-biz-takes-off phase. I’m shaking with anticipation.
I think that’s anticipation.

Picking up the pace with a little U2
…and I may sing this at church during Easter. I love shaking things up.

bd’s woes
Like much of Retail America, bd’s has been suffering from a recent sales depression. They have decided that they can’t afford live entertainment until business picks up in the spring, when the tables go out on the patio. With the downfall of thick, fluffy snow attacking us this morning, I’d say that’s better later than sooner.
So, no bd’s for a couple of months, and I’ve removed it from my schedule at michelletuesday.com.
And today, once again, I’ll get my exercise: (1) shoveling the drives, and (2) smashing the shovel to smithereens. Now that I have my Wednesday nights free, I can make dinner plans with Punxsutawney Phil. We’ve got a few things to discuss.

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
…from a real estate perspective, that is! I’m looking for a commercial property in Gahanna, Ohio, and would love to get in touch with a broker. If anyone can make a recommendation, I would be most appreciative.
I might have a lead on a broker, so hopefully that will work out. I’m ready to move my music instruction business and need a home!
I did find a home for my spring recital. It will be at Potbelly Sandwich Works in Gahanna, and Potbelly is overjoyed to have us. More to come when I finalize the schedule.
And, yes, I sing that song (in the subject line.) Like most U2 songs, it’s one of my favorites. I’ll have to record that one for you.

Upcoming potential gigs
So, I’m working a few angles at Don Patron and Doolin’s Pub (both on 256/Hill Road in Pickerington), and I’m hoping to play at both in the spring. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by and request me.
Speaking of spring, I’m ready.

Lessons!
I started teaching private music lessons this week. Give me a shout if you want to learn piano, guitar, bass, drums, voice, or songwriting, or if your band needs a coach. I’m on it!
Meanwhile, I’m working on a better location. It’s looking like Gahanna, Ohio will be my business home. I’m very much looking forward to it. What a wonderful community!
Peace,
Michelle
